Domestic Partner Insurance Coverage

Domestic partner (same sex) insurance coverage became available to school district employees on April 1, 1999. Listed below are qualifications as required by our insurance carriers:

• Both partners are 18 years of age or older.

• The partners share a close personal relationship and are responsible for each other’s common welfare.

• Neither partner can be legally married to anyone else or have had another qualifying domestic partner within the last six months.

• The partners share the same permanent residence with the intent to continue doing so indefinitely.

• The partners share joint financial responsibility for basic living expenses including food, shelter and medical expenses.

Coverage for a domestic partner and their children may result in additional imputed taxable income to the employee.
